WHO IS FLORIDA HEAVY IRON?

Florida Heavy Iron is a fast-growing provider of equipment maintenance services, specializing in
diesel-powered construction and non-highway machinery. We are committed to delivering high-
quality, on-the-road repairs and service for our clients, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal
performance for their fleets.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position will
primarily involve performing on-site repairs and maintenance for construction and non-highway
equipment. You will be working from a company-provided service truck, traveling to various job
sites and customer locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel
mechanics, with a working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:
 

  • 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on construction and non highway equipment.

  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.

  • Familiarity with a wide range of construction and heavy equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

  • Exceptional ability to problem solve.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in diesel mechanics or a related field.

  • Experience with welding and fabrication.

  • Previous experience working in a mobile service role.

  • Recommended experience working with hydraulic systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance for diesel-powered construction and non-highway equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on a variety of
    equipment, including excavators, loaders, skid steers, aerial equipment and other heavymachinery.

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems, including wiring, control circuits, andcomponents.

  •  Inspect, test, and replace hydraulic systems and components as needed.

  • Communicate with customers to assess issues, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with repairs.

  • Maintain a clean and organized service truck, ensuring all necessary tools and parts are stocked and ready for service calls.

  • Follow safety protocols and company policies while working on-site and in the field.

  • Keep detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service provided.
